The Drying Lotion is a fast acting, effective acne spot treatment. Formulated with salicylic acid, calamine and other quick-drying ingredients, this product will shrink ugly whiteheads virtually overnight while you sleep. While other acne spot treatments can irritate and dry delicate or sensitive skin, this product is safe and effective for all skin types.

I have used products in the MB line for months now and have tried various products including the buffering lotion, silver powder, healing powder, drying mask, special healing cream, and of course the drying lotion. Out of all of them, I like the drying lotion best and reach for it most often over the rest of the MB line that I own. As others have stated, it is best used in the evening, since it is not formulated to work with makeup. Apply with cotton swab and dab on each pimple until coated in "pink," and let dry. Typically the pimple(s) are greatly reduced by morning, if not gone, which is why I love this product. For an acne treatment intended for evening use, this is the best I have found. Kate Sommerville makes a similar product, but it did not work nearly as well, so I would skip that one if you were thinking of going with that one instead.
Please note that this product does not intend to clear up stubborn cystic acne. MB does not use a one-size-fits-all approach to treating acne, since there are several types of acne that can form on the face. Rather, they have developed acne specific products, targeting the actual acne you are afflicted with. If you have cystic acne troubles, use the buffering lotion, which is formulated to help reduce cystic acne. Their website actually has an acne guide explaining each type of acne and how to treat it with their products, which is worth checking into. Since MB has many product offerings, I suggest completing their skin analysis online and let them send you free samples of what they believe will work for you from their product line.

I have been a fan of Mario Badescu for a few years now. I do find that his lotions are great for sensitive, acne prone skin like mine. I had always been to dermatologists, wore little face make-up and regularly applied expensive topical creams impatiently awaiting results. When someone recommended his drying lotion, I was skeptical. NEVER has anything, not requiring a prescription, worked for me in the past. I bought it at a trade show and was instantly hooked! There's no need to apply it all over the face, just the inflamed area. If you apply to fresh acne (I do not recommend applying when it's already in the drying process, you'll risk flaking) your blemish will be gone in just a couple days. Improving atleast 50% in just the first day alone! I'm just ordering my 3rd bottle now. Oh and DO NOT SHAKE!
5.0 out of 5 starsWish more natural methods could give me these results, this is a strong but insanely effective product.

Ive had cystic/hormonal acne since I had my son two years ago. I am 24 and I've been trained as an esthetician and have used many different brands and methods across the board to help stop, or if nothing else simply heal and calm my flare ups. I have normal to dry skin, my breakouts are usually isolated to the area just above my jaw, mid cheek.. Forehead, once in a while but fairly rare. I heard about this product through a search and went for it, also purchased the buffering lotion. The results literally floored me. I wanted to submit this review on day 3 but I wanted to give it some time to see how effective it really was, I tend to get a new cluster of zits or cysts every two weeks, since I bought this and began treatment with it I have not had one. It's ridiculous. It's truly ridiculous. I understand not all skin types can handle it, and that it's not for everyone. But I would honestly recommend this to anyone with reoccurring acne and cystic acne just to try, With a few guidelines. As I said my skin is normal to dry, my skin got extremely dry after the first few applications, but I also make my treatment intense. I applied the buffering lotion (more like buffering liquid, but very effective) first, then the drying lotion, once that dried I again applied the buffering lotion. If you want to sleep in it you can, but it will flake and fall off in the night. I left this on for about an hour. After rinsing my face I immediately applied the "best vitamin serum for your face" by OZ Naturals in conjunction with the hylauronic serum sold from the same line, let that set and moisturized. Whatever you're method may be, you have to moisturize. This will mess up your ph balance.Read more ›

I am 30 and I get the occasional breakout from stress and hormones. This stuff smells funny, like old-school Clearasil, but it really does work overnight. It took away the redness and shrunk the pimples I had. I will never go back to using anything else.
